The resistance to movement between 2 surfaces which touch each other, is referred to as frictional force. This frictional force will be reduced if any or all of the following things happen. 1. Make the surfaces rough and things will not slide over each other so easily because the frictional force will be greater. 2. Choose a different material for the surface, which has a very slippery nature. 3. Choose a more slippery surface on the moving surface of the object. The ' slipperiness' of the materials is referred to as the 'co-efficient of friction'. The force needed to overcome the grip of friction, is always a fraction of the weight of the object but in rare circumstances with rough surfaces, the grip of the frictional force can be equal to the the weight of the sliding object. If a slope is equal to, or steeper than 45 degrees, then the object will always slide down this incline without any need to push it.

How trees reduce friction?

Trees reduce friction by providing shade and blocking wind, which can help decrease the speed and force of moving air and objects. Additionally, the roots of trees can help stabilize soil and prevent erosion, reducing the amount of loose material that can cause friction. Overall, the presence of trees can create a more buffered and less turbulent environment that lowers friction.

What road conditions will cause friction to reduce?

Wet or icy road conditions can cause friction to reduce because surfaces become slippery, reducing the ability of tires to grip the road. Additionally, oil spills or loose gravel on the road can also decrease friction between the tires and the road surface.

What is the force you have to overcome to start an object moving called?

I have to guess either gravity or friction. If by that you mean a force that opposes the start of motion, then your force would be static friction.Static friction only occurs before an object starts moving, as opposed to kinetic friction which occurs when the objects is moving or sliding. The equation for static friction is: Ff = (coefficient of static friction) * FNInertia

What would happen if there was no such thing as friction?

If there was no friction then we could not walk, we would keep slipping. Nothing would be steady on the ground, many things would be just sliding and sliding. Nothing would exist in the way they do now. You could not pick up a glass with a drink in it, you could not hold a pencil, a leaf, a spear, or your cellphone, and you could not turn a page. It seems unlikely that we could exist at all.

What has more friction carpet or gravel?

Carpet typically has more friction than gravel because the fibers in carpet create more contact points with the object moving across it, increasing friction. Gravel, on the other hand, has irregular and loose surfaces that result in less friction when compared to carpet.

Friction Heat generated Energy lost in loose links and gears etc.

Why do object moving in paved road comes to rest when it travel in loose gravelled roads?

Because of friction. The frictional force of the gravel does work on the object and causes it to decelerate.

What is the most common cause of squeaking floors?

The most common cause of squeaking floors is the friction between wooden floorboards rubbing against each other or against the subfloor. This friction can be due to loose nails, gaps in the floorboards, or changes in humidity causing the wood to expand and contract.

What makes aircrafts to fly hundreds of feet above ground and not be atracted by gravitational force and loose altitude?

Aircraft fly and stay in the air because the force of gravity is balanced by the force of lift created by the wings as air rushes over them, and because the force of air friction is balanced by the force of thrust created by the engines.

How does an airplane loose thrust when it lands?

Why is it difficult to walk on loose mud with high than flat floor?

What could cause intermittent hesitation in a car?

Intermittent hesitation in a car could be caused by many things. The fuel filter, the EFI, and spark plugs might be the cause. A loose wire can also cause this. Newer cars have many plugs and connectors that could have come loose.

What is an example of static friction?

Static friction is the friction the object must be able to overcome in order to move. I'm sure you've noticed that you have to work hard to get an object to move, but once its moving, it is easier to push it. That is because static friction is greater that kinetic friction.
