Book report or book review? A book report is a short summary of a book. It is usually one to five pages in length and involves a short yet specific description of the beginning, middle, and end of the book as well as of the characters, including main and sub. A book review is more or less your opinion of a book. It will vary in length depending on who you're writing for. You'll want to read the book and take notes as you go along. Unlike a book report, these notes will not be on the characters or plot specifically, but on how the book is written, what the emotions are, how you feel about the author's writing style, etc. Non-professional book reviews are fun to write and give you a chance to explore a new world of language (descriptive words are a must!). Book report example: "King's Hill is by Marie Jinger and is about two characters on a journey through the Arizona desert".

Book review example: "Marie Jinger gives a thorough blend of heartstopping thrills and over-the-top romance... I could not put this book down".
