Normally, the things that draw the most current are the stove (range) (up to 5,000 watts) , the water heater (3,000-4,500 watts) , the AC (600-2,500 watts) , the clothes dryer (3,000 watts or so) which will use up to 30 amps, the furnace (if it's electric), then come appliances like Microwaves (600-1500 watts) , toasters (750-1200 watts) , hair dryers (600-1500 watts) and space heaters. Most TV' Computers and other electronics nowadays only use a small amount of electricity, as in 100-400 watts, which at 120 volts would be between 1 and 4 amps or so. Modern refridgerators and freezers only use between 400 to 800 watts normally. Washers use around 700-1200 watts. Also, things with motors like AC's. washing machines, fridges and freezers use more power at start up and then level off. They use capacitors to store electricity to help the power surge not be so much so that they don't dim your lights when they kick on.

How does the hydroelectric power get to your homes?

After generating electricity at a hydroelectric power plant, the electricity is transmitted through high-voltage power lines to substations. Transformers then lower the voltage for distribution through power lines to homes and businesses. The electricity finally enters homes through the electrical wiring to power appliances and devices.

What kind of elder care do most nursing homes offer?

Usually nursing homes offer high care, low care or a both. Low care provides meals and cleaning while high care is for those who need a greater amount of help and will help people shower and get dressed and other things.

What are the advantages of Kudankulam nuclear power plant?

they provide high amount of power and electricity

How does the national grid brings electricity to homes?

By overhead cables, supported on masts, at very high voltage, to reduce the effects of resistance in the wires.

Why is an apple a conductor?

An apple can conduct electricity because it contains a high amount of water, which is a good conductor of electricity. The ions present in the water in the apple allow it to conduct electricity to some extent, although not as efficiently as metals or other materials with high conductivity.

How is high voltage used for the electricity that is delivered to your homes from regional generating stations?

The electricity that is delivered to homes from the regional generating stations uses high voltage in its distribution. This is then transformed from the high voltage on the primary side of the transformer to a lower voltage on the secondary side of the transformer. The common household voltage throughout North America is 120/240 volts obtained from the secondary windings of the step down utility owned transformer.

Electricity Bill too High Unplug!?

It sounds simple, but unplugging gadgets and appliances around the home can help lower an electricity bill by a substantial amount. Many people don't realize just how many appliances and electronics they have plugged in at any one point in their homes. There's the microwave, coffeepot, alarm clock, TV, computer, cell phone charger, etc. These things are often used only a few times a day and are then left alone. Even when they aren't in use, they suck away energy, adding more cost to the electric bill. By unplugging these items after use, the electricity bill won't be as high.

How does energy from a power plant get to our homes?

Energy from a power plant is typically transmitted to homes through a network of power lines called the electrical grid. The electricity generated at the power plant is carried through high-voltage transmission lines to substations, where the voltage is reduced before being distributed to homes through lower-voltage lines. Finally, the electricity enters homes through outlets and is used to power various appliances and devices.

What are real world applications of hydroelectricity?

its just a form of electricity that is produced by using water under high pressure to turn large turbines. the result then causes the turbines to spin a generator which then sends electricity across transmission lines to the normal usage of electricity in our homes.

How does electricity get to your homes and schools?

Electricity is generated at power plants using various sources such as coal, natural gas, hydroelectric, or renewable sources like solar and wind. It is then transmitted through high-voltage power lines to substations, where the voltage is reduced for distribution through local power lines. The electricity finally reaches homes and schools through transformers and distribution lines.

Why can't lightning be used to provide electricity for homes?

DC (dirrect current) electricity is not used in homes, because different appliances (lamps, TVs, etc.) use different voltages. By using AC electricity, each appliance can take the voltage it needs. If we used DC, some smaller appliances would constantly burn out, because the voltages are far too high.

What distributes electricity?

Electricity is distributed through a network of power lines, transformers, and substations. Power plants generate electricity and transmit it through high-voltage transmission lines to substations, where the voltage is lowered for distribution to homes, businesses, and other buildings through power lines.
