Hieroglyphs were usually written in papyrus paper, but after the Greeks occupied Egypt the Egyptians learned who to carve them into stone.
Since Egyptian pharaohs were very rich, many of things were made out of expensive things, like gold. Egyptians believed that they would need all their things in their Afterlife, so pharaohs had their important things taken with them into their tomb. Also, to show how important they were, they would put extra gold into their tomb.
I am not sure, but a pharaohs tomb looks like a giant boxed room.
