The National Convention was formed to compose a new constitution. The Convention made France into a republic and tried Louis XVI for treason. He was executed by means of the guillotine in 1793. The National Convention took possession of the land of émigrés and got rid of the few remaining feudal practices.
Soon after a person is nominated as a candidate at the national convention. the convention delegates choose a vice-presidential candidate. In recent years, the presidential nominee names the person he wants for his running mate and the convention confirms his choice. The nominee may have made his choice earlier, but announcing the choice at the convention is a courtesy to the convention delegates and make the convention more newsworthy.

When multiple people work together they can be called a group or a team. By convention a group is made up of multiple teams and each team is made up of multiple people. As a result the team members report to the team leader, and the team leaders report to the group leader. The group leader would then report to the department head. The department heads would report to the CEO.
