The term golden age refers to Latin literature, not to the reign of an emperor. It refers to the best period of Latin literature. It is subdivided into two sub-ages. The first is the Ciceronian Age (named after Cicero, the famous writer and orator) in the Late Roman Republic which lasted from 80 BC to 43 BC, just after Julius Caesar's assassination. The second was the Augustan Age, which is named after Augustus, the first Roman emperor, which lasted until four years after the death of Augustus, with the death of Ovid, one of the three canonical writers of Latin literature (the others are Virgil and Horace).
