What time of year do people tend to go to movies more?
Peak movie going time is typically November through December. In
the US this has its two biggest peaks around the weekend after
Thanksgiving, beginning with the Black Friday shopping tradition
and than Christmas through the last week of December before New
This two month span has the most 'days off' for both school
children and adult workers due to the variety of holidays combined
with the fact that more people are out shopping and (at least in
North America) it is also cold outside which for some people may
limit their entertainment options to indoor activities.
This is immediately followed by the slowest four months of the
year for movie going: January through April.
The other six months (May through October) are all fairly
average falling somewhere between those two extremes.
