First, after you defeat the champion in Pokemon platinum,you go to snow point city you talk to the sailor, then he'll take to the fight area.You will then see your friend/rival and Flint and Volkner standing in front of a gateway and then your friend/rival will ask you to team up with him and take them on.(If you have an action replay device and you are able to capture trainer Pokemon Flint's Magmortar has gotten stronger and so has Volkner's electivire if you want catch them or not.)
