This normally is a sign of a teribble disease called scurvy. Its hard to reverse but tje best tjing ypu can do it try to get it a lot of vitamin C and if you have other guinea pigs give them plenty of vitamin C as well.
You should make sure your guinea pig(s) have lots of Timothy hay (less fattening than alfalfa) and things such as wooden or hard small animal chew toys found in pet stores. Th hay should be always a ailable to them because it helps grind down there teeth, as well as providing them with fibre and nutrients that are very important to their diet. But, if the length of the teeth is too much, you should bring the pet(s) to the vet to have the teeth clipped. Please don't shy away because you are not willing to pay a vet bill for a guinea pig, the teeth can become so long that they grow into the roof or bottom of the mouth, which is painful and makes eating/drinking virtually impossible. If the problem requires clipping, please use the teeth maintenance techniques I mentioned before to keep this from happening again.
They will grow back don't worry, that happened with my guinea pig. They will grow back don't worry, that happened with my guinea pig.
They will in about 3 days. In the time the theeth are gone the piggie can not eat by itself so you have to feed it little pieces of vegetables to keep it healthy.
No. You will need to handfeed your guinea pig multiple times a day or it is likely that it will die.
Your guinea pig's teeth will eventuallly grow back. All rodents can grow teeth back.
Take it to the vets and they should give you something for your poor gin-wins! Also make it has plenty of hay and veggies to nibble on! Good luck!
to keep their teeth ground down, they would grow too long otherwise.
It is great to have two guinea pigs!!! They are extremely social animals. If they are alone for too long, they can become depressed and lonely.
some time it means that there back or front teeth are to long, causing your piggie to drewl. take them to a vet to have there teeth clipped as it can be fatal if left too long. or get them a knawing block for there front teeth...
No!, because they will choke and their teeth are too small to chew!
Liquidized food. take it to the vet too. I got my guinea pigs at 4 weeks old, and they had teeth....
Guinea pigs have been around for thousands of years! Pet guinea pigs have been dated back to the 17th Centry even! Seems like ancient humans liked guinea pigs too!
No, people can be allergic to guinea pigs too.
You can give your guinea pigs any fruit but not too much acidy fruits as it is bad for their teeth and stomachs.
Guinea pigs are quite the ready freddy animal. They are born with all their teeth, eyes open and ready to run. If their mother lives outside the newborn babies will be fine outside. As long as it is not too cold or too hot.
As it is edible for them and helps wear down their teeth. People feed timothy hay to guinea pigs that aren't pregnant or young as if you give a normal guinea pig alfalfa hay (which is for pregnant guinea pigs and young guinea pigs), it will be too high in calcium (I think) which is bad for them.
There are a number of reasons that your guinea pig is communicating to you in this way.From experience with my guinea pigs I have found that:1. My guinea pigs bite or pull my clothes mainly when they are trying to tell me that they would like to go back to their cage so that they can pee.2. My guinea pigs sometimes bite my clothes when they are hungry or would like me to give them so fresh fruit and veg.3. biting clothes could also be a sign that your guinea pigs teeth are too long and they have nothing to chew to shorten them. Guinea pigs teeth, like most rodents, never stop growing so they need to have so wood or chew sticks in their cage to bite so that their teeth are kept at a healthy length. If your guine pigs teeth are too long take immediately to the vets to have them cut so as not to cause discomfort for you piggie. [Apple tree twigs are really good for their teeth too! Don't get them of the groud or if they are sprayed with a pesticide, herbicide. A tip from Kenzie!!! ;} ]Try not to let them nibble on your clothes because guinea pigs and ferrets can cough things up or make hairballs like cats. Therefore if they get any in their mouth and swallow then it is in them for good. If it gets stuck in their throat there is almost no way to get it out. Any fabric in the cage or on your guinea pig is not the best idea. Harnesses are OK if they aren't furry or fuzzy. Kenzie ;}
yes. malocclusion (teeth in disordered place) if your animal have this get it put down as it is very painful for the animal and will kill it eventually. symptoms drooling, not eating, not drinking, curled teeth over bit, underbite or teeth straight up and down. Make sure you always give guinea pigs a toy or food to gnaw on to wear down there teeth. Otherwise there teeth will grow too long and you'll end up having to make an appointment at the vets!
