If you mean a permit to carry a gun, you apply for it through the DMV. Depending on where you are, you may have to go to another location. For instance, if you live in north MS (Southaven, Olive Branch, etc) you have to go to Batesville, and IIRC, they only take applications on Monday.
Mississippi does not require a training class to get a permit, however, if you take a training class from an approved instructor, you qualify for an enhanced or endorsed permit, which entitles you to carry your gun legally in more places. In other words, there are less off limits locations if you have an endorsed permit.

∙ 6y agoMississippi does not require a permit to possess nor to carry a firearm, openly or concealed. There is an "enhanced carry" permit. Contact the Mississippi Highway Patrol for an application. It requires a background check and completion of a training class.
