By adult child I assume you mean 18 and over...so

If an adult child(18+)(That is not mentally disabled) deliberately and knowingly hits a parent then the parent should call the police and have the adult child(18+) arrested for assault and/or battery and follow through with the charges and let them face criminal punishment for their crime....If the adult child is say 15-17 then police should be called and the child sent through the juvinle justice system and face punishment there...If a child will beat up on a parent then most likely that child will beat on their wife/husband and on any kids they may have in the future..

send them to their room or spank them

First of all the above comment is so wrong! Violence leads to violence so that is not the best answer. If you are spanking (hitting) your child then your child will use that as an outlet later. Children are always watching you and if you are hitting them then they will hit others (including you)

When you isolate a child (sending them to their room) you haven't addressed the initial problem. You just send them away and they may never confront or understand what the isolation means.

The best thing to do is to apply a logical consequence to the situation. Getting down on the child's level and discussing the situation and letting them come up with logical consequences is the best thing to do.

I am a pre kindergarten teacher (4years) and it just really sends giant red flags when these 4 year old children express so much anger and resentment towards consequences. When a 4 year old only knows anger as an outlet, they learned it from their parents or caregiver, it is extremely hard for me to make positive improvements in their social and emotional well being.

Think about it logically people. Isolation and corporal punishment SOLVE NOTHING. But not doing anything doesn't help the situation either. As a parent or caregiver you must follow through with your children. Because if you don't you are making their lives and so many others lives RIDICULOUSLY stressful.

You tell him to stop politly but if he or she keeps on hitting you tell them to stop again exept in an angrey voice but if they are still hitting you tell an adult or the princible (if at school) but what i would do is punch them in the face. you dont have to do that but i have low patiants. but telling an adult is mostly recomended!

The parent should punch twice as hard to show superior strength and afterwards - put the teenager on a strict regime.

No, the child can not. The other parent could before the child was an adult. The money goes to the parent to use for the child and not directly to the child.
