If there is blood under the nail and throbbing pain, drill a small hole through the nail to let the blood out. I have used a drill press (really) for easy control of the depth as you only want to drill through the nail and not into the skin underneath.

A subungual hematoma is blood trapped under a nail. By the next day, it has the characteristic black or very dark blue appearance. It's the familiar "black nail" after whacking your finger with a hammer, for instance. Getting attention within hours of the accident can reduce pain and swelling; after the blood clots, however, the affected person just needs to wait until the swelling goes down naturally.
It bled alright, but the blood remained under the nail. Over time, the blue/black portions will grow out, and the nail will return to its normal color. If you've really whacked it seriously, the toenail may detach and fall off.
HIV needs body warmth in order to survive and so if it is cold enough for the blood to dry..........
