I assume by "fish food" you mean standard flake fish food. Bettas are carnivores, so you can feed them many of the commonly available frozen fish foods (bloodworms, plankton, krill, tubifex worms, etc). You can also try tiny bits of raw shrimp from the grocery store and/or worms from the garden/yard. Give the fish a chance to check out and eat the new food, but be sure to remove anything the fish does not eat in about five minutes.

∙ 13y agoI have 2 goldfish and as a special treat I sometimes feed them a few peas - they can't be frozen and can't be warmed up in the microwave so make sure they are at room temperature. This also helps to stop constipation.
Remember still feed them fish food :D

∙ 14y agoThey can eat fish fry, brine shrimp, white worms, daphnia, cyclops, glass worms, small earth worms and almost any finely chopped meat. There are also Betta pellets available at good pet shops.
