Lots of good tips...

  • Swish saltwater between your teeth.
  • Stay away from ice cream, and other cold stuff
  • Eat applesauce, and more soft foods
  • Take some motrin, tylenol, etc.
  • Brush your teeth 4 times a day, lightly, but dont underdo it (esp. the gums)

Other than that, just bear through it! Also, you could stop at the nearest drugstore and there is this numbing stuff for your gums. i was told it worked very well. Just remember- your teeth will look beautiful after the treatment is done!☺

If they are hurting your gums, you can use a product called Anbesol. You can get it at any drug store or in the medicine aisle at most grocery stores. If they are hurting the inside of your lips, you can also use Anbesol for that, and you can ask your orthodontist for wax to put over your braces where they are hurting you. It is clear wax, I used it when I had braces and it worked great.

Check to see if anything is lost or missing. If not, take tylenol. After getting braces, your teeth will ache. Just relax in bed or on the couch. Wax may help in some situations. Also eat lots of cold things that should sooth your gums.
