"What to say in a Thank you note for a birthday dinner party that was very expensive?"The exact same thing one should say in a note of thanks for an inexpensive birthday dinner party. "Thank you very much for the wonderful food and the pleasure of your company.", or something to that effect while expressing those sentiments, is always appropriate. "I had so much fun at the party. The dinner was delicious! Thank you for remembering my birthday in such a wonderful way. I will never forget the evening." is also appropriate. Remember though, it is the thought that counts, not the size of someone's wallet or grand total at the end the party. Being polite and exhibiting good manners means putting aside dollar signs and extravagances, and putting forefront the thought behind someone's kind actions and gifts. Etiquette requires that we show respect for others, regardless of their socioeconomic status.
"Takk for maten" (thank you for the food) You could say "takk for middag" (thank you for dinner), but "takk for maten" is the normal phrase.
tgif cannot be expensive because its a saying [thank god its friday] or [thank goodness its friday.
For your company's first birthday you could hold a special dinner at your local restaurant, also hand out little plaques to thank them for all their work. Company picnics are also a nice choice.
