Age of spill is important here, rags if wet will be flammable. CAUTION required! If fumes have dissipated (old spill like leak from container) no really big clean up would be needed, maybe just wipe dissolved dust/dirt with cloth wrung out in warm water with a small quantity of a detergent added.
How you can best clean up spilled polyurethane will depend on where it is spilled. If it is spilled on a laminate floor, rags dampened in mineral spirits will work well. If the spill is on concrete, paint thinner will clean it up.

The beeswax would be too hard, you couldn't apply it, even if you melt the wax, it would harden during application, and you would need turpentine to clean it up !!

Often, massive dilution with water is enough to make it safe for ordinary clean-up. Sometimes adding a base, or a basic salt such as Sodium bicarbonate is sufficient. The nature and concentration of the spilled acid will usually dictate the clean-up method used.
You should never drench a horse in turpentine oil. the only applicable use for turpentine and horses is on the bottoms of their hooves to toughen them up.
