Almost everyone in China now wears Western-style clothes, although on formal occasions, women sometimes wear traditional Chinese dresses. It is sometimes disconcerting for Westerners to see Chinese people walking the streets early in the morning in their pyjamas, before getting ready for the day. Silk is relatively cheap and is much more common than in the West, even for men's T-shirts. In the cities, men wear a suit on more occasions than is the case in most Western countries.
The highlighted traditional Chinese clothes are represented by the Tang suit, the Qipao (cheongsam) and the Zhongshan suit.
