it really depends on how involved you want to get, you can rebuild it with just common hand tools and a few bushing drivers and creative thinking
otherwise you will need a case holding fixture, drum press, pump puller, special lock/snap ring pliers, pump alignment fixture, tailshaft holding fixture, in case spring compressor, Teflon seal resizers, machinist ruler, possibly torx bits if it was bolted to a 4.8, 5.3 or 6.0, trans gel makes reassembley easier, a true straight edge for checking case and valvebody squareness, various picks and pliers and a toolbox full of hope because your first trans rebuild will be quite involved.
if you want to rebuild it like a pro expect to drop around 900-1000 dollars in tools alone and 300+ in parts always replace the torque converter and flush the cooler lines on any overhaul.
