Versailles is a city in France. It was a French palace and was used by the French monarchs and aristocracy.
His principal home was the court, at the Versailles palace. He did have some summer retreats where he liked to stay for a few weeks, but his main home was the Versailles palace. When he and his family were arrested, they lived in the Tuilerie palace (which once used to be the principal and only palace of France, before Louis XIV decided to build the Versailles palace) and after that he and his family were captured in the Temple prison.
The Palace of Versailles is located in the Île-de-France region of France. It is one of France's biggest tourist attractions. The Palace of Versailles serves as an image of the monarchy that used to exist there.

Architects designed the palace of Versailles. It was build by the usual range of craftsmen (masons, carpenters, stone carvers) and embellished by artists (painters, sculptors, garden designer). As that wasn't any more feudal times, the workers were all paid but no slave labour was used.
