They would sacrifice slaves or criminal
One form of medieval armor was called "chainmail." "Mail" was a term for armor or protection. Chain mail was made up of small metal links chained together, rather than of sheet metal, so it would be easy to move in it.
A knight in shining armor is refering to the medieval ages when knights armor was cleaned and polished. When a knight would return from a battle or conquest, he could of been said to being a knight in shining armor.
His tools would be his most prized possessions.
The knights armor wouldn't be comfortable because they are in full metal armor and would possibly be extremly hot where as the cloth clothing (gowns, etc) would be nice and cool and less movement restricting because it is a lighter material

Knights used their fighting tools, like swords and daggers and spears. Armor would also be considered a tool because it protected them in battle. They would also have used a shield in most cases. Other tools might have included a horse, repair gear for their weapons and armor, and the usual tools that everybody of that time would have used (like eating utensils, sewing tools for mending clothing, hammers and nails, etc.).
During Medieval times, horses were commonly armored in heavy plate to protect them in battle. Knights also wore armor to protect themselves, typically consisting of a helmet, breastplate, greaves, and gauntlets. War dogs were sometimes also outfitted with protective armor in combat.
Your answer would be tools, its in the question
For destroying the enemy. The various types of weapons were designed to counter the armor worn by knights. The flail and the mace were designed to allow a blow around the shield of a knight. Hammers and axes were designed to crush the armor and the limb or body behind it. The cross bow would penetrate the armor.
Knights did not won their armors in tournaments, they bought them, maybe with the gold won in tournament.
