Some light wheeled vehicles on the island itself. Some Type 95 light tanks. The rest were boats & ships which surrounded the island.
Approximately 880 boats were used during the battle for Iwo Jima.
"Midway" was strictly a naval battle. Iwo Jima was part of the "island hopping" campaign.
Germany first used flame throwers in WW1 (1914-1918) against ENTRENCED allied positions. US Marines used them for the very same reasons: ENTRENCED enemy positions.
No , rhinos were not used during the battle .
They used arisaka rifles and many types off lmgs and heavy machine guns. Their names can't remember all their exact names. Mortars and possibly few dug in light tanks and field guns. What guns they used didn't make battle brutal it was the way the Japanese fought it
Iwo Jima: Feb. 19, 1945 to March 26, 1945 (35 days). During this battle the U.S. Marines received more casualties (26,029) than were killed of the Japanese (21,844) of which 6,812 Marines were killed. Approximately 19,000 Marines were killed during World War II about 1/3 of them on Iwo Jima. There were more Congressional Medals of Honor bestowed at the Battle of Iwo Jima than any other battle in American history. A total of 27 medals were awarded (13 posthumously). This battle was immortalized by Joe Rosenthal's photograph of theraising of the U.S. flag on top of Mount Suribachi by five Marines and one Navy Corpsman (of which, only 3 survived the battle). The photograph records the second flag-raising on the mountain, which took place on the fifth day of the 35-day battle. The picture became the iconic image of the battle (and the Marine Corps) and has been heavily reproduced. It is only fitting that the picture was later used by Felix de Weldon to sculpt the Marine Corps War Memorial, located adjacent to Arlington National Cemetery. Admiral Chester Nimitz said of the battle, "Among the Americans who served on Iwo Jima Island, 'Uncommon valor was a virtue'."
They used horses for transportation, and something called a travois.
