Shoshone
When The Corps of Discovery landed and walked and looked for the Shoshone tribe, Sacajawea's tribe. The tribe had allot of mustangs for them to use. They needed the horses for the tough mountains.
What did Sacajawea do as a teen! She did what everything that a woman can do and more! She... 1. Led Lewis and Clark across the Rocky Mountians 2. Gave birth to a baby boy 3. Got Married 4. Cooked 5. Found Food When Lewis and Clark came across an Indian Tribe they would know that they came in peace because a war party would never bring a woman and a baby along. Lewis and Clark would not have survived with out Sacajawea ( Sacagawea)
Sacagawea pointed out Beaverhead Rock to Lewis and Clark. She found her tribe near Dillon, Montana.
During the Lewis and Clark, expedition, Sacajawea, their Shoshone interpreter, received a shock. Sacajawea had been kidnapped from her village by a warring tribe when she was still a child. She subsequently had been given to a French trader, who she married, and had just given birth to a little boy. Upon entering a Shoshone camp for supplies, she found out that the chief of this particular tribe was her brother.
He was born in the place where his tribe had settled in 1804 . When the Lewis and Clark met Sacajawea she had the baby with her. In the only graffiti left by the team there is a site that Clark climbed up a large rock and inscribed his name and the date 1806. This is called Pompeii's Pillar and is a historical site today.
