Kayaks were invented by the Indus Valley River culture which died out violently in a flood. Too bad their kayaks couldn't save them then, but the Mesopotamians later adapted their faulty kayaks into effective ones.

Kayaks originated with the Inuit people, who lived near the Arctic. They made these small boats to help them fish and hunt for food. The first kayaks were made from woven frames that were then covered in animals skins (often from seals).
