The Indian Removal Act did not state that the Indian Had to go west of the Mississippi. The Act actually gave the President the right to negotiate with the tribes their removal to west of the mississippi. The tribes would first have to agree to this. Jackson broke this law and forced the removal of several tribes.

The Mississippi tribes
The Shoshone tribe did not live in the Mississippi area; they primarily inhabited regions in the western United States, including parts of present-day Idaho, Utah, and Nevada. In contrast, the Chickasaw, Choctaw, and Natchez tribes were all native to the southeastern United States, particularly around the Mississippi River and its tributaries.
The Chickasaw Indians primarily inhabited areas in the southeastern United States, particularly in what is now Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee. In Illinois, their presence was less pronounced, but they may have occasionally traveled or settled in the southern regions of the state, particularly along the Mississippi River. However, they were not one of the dominant tribes in Illinois, where other tribes, such as the Illiniwek, were more prominent.
