Two endocrine glands responsible for the maintenance of serum calcuim?

The thyroid releases calcitonin which is responsible for decreasing serum calcium levels and the parathyroid glands release PTH and are responsible for increasing serum calcium

What are hormones where are they produced and how are they transported?

These hormones are produced mainly by the endocrine glands. The endocrine glands in females are ovaries and those in males are testes. While both males and females have all types of hormones present in their bodies, females produce the majority of two types of hormones, estrogens and progesterone, while males produce mainly androgens such as testosterone. Most androgens produced by females are converted to estrogens and some androgens in males are also converted to estrogens.

How does the endocrine system use feedback loops to maintian homeostasis?

There are many endocrine systems. An endocrine system is one where a gland excretes substances internally or to a surface such as the skin. Both salivary glands and sweat glands are two such systems. It may seem picky to make this distinction but each system uses its own feedback to achieve homeostasis (equilibrium). There are several types off feedback loop such as "mechanical circuits" (sweat cooling skin to slow this process) or by nervous or hormonal systems. edit: Neither salivary glands nor sweat glands are apart of the endocrine system. Both are exocrine.

Which endocrine glands come in pairs?

Starting at the top, the parathyroids (two on each side of the thyroid, one on its surface, the other either on the surface or buried inside), the adrenals and the testes or ovaries.

What organs have endocrine and exocrine function?

There is more than one organ that has both endocrine and exocrine functions. The pancreas houses two distinctly different tissues. The bulk of its mass is exocrine tissue and associated ducts, which produce an alkaline fluid loaded with digestive enzymes which is delivered to the small intestine to facilitate digestion of foodstuffs. Scattered throughout the exocrine tissue are several hundred thousand clusters of endocrine cells which produce the hormones insulin and glucagon, gastrin, and somatostatin, plus a few other hormones. The liver also has both endocrine and exocrine functions. The liver's exocrine function involves the secretion of bile, which moves through ducts to the gallbladder where it is stored until needed to emulsify fats. In addition, the liver produces the hormone insulin=like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), which affects growth and development in childhood and impacts adult muscle development as well. The liver also produces the endocrine hormone thrombopoeitin, which stimulate the production of platelets. It makes angiotensinogen, a hormone that affects blood pressure. The stomach secretes stomach acid (exocrine) as well as gastrin (an hormone that works within the stomach). The duodenum secretes mucus (exocrine) as well as gastrin, cholecystokinin, and secretin (endocrine). While the testicles and ovaries do have endocrine function, they produce no exocrine secretions.

Which Endocrine glands can be examined physically?

There are only two endocrine glands that can be examined physically. They are the testes and thyroid glands. Severe enlargement along these glands can be easily detected with naked eye.

Name 2 endocrine glands and there location and function?

Two endocrine glands are the hypothalamus gland and the Thyroid. The hypothalamus gland is located in the center area of the brain. It's functions are to stimulate and inhibit the release and secretion of the anterior pituitary gland. The thyroid gland is located around the esophageal area and it's functions are to release thyroxine and triiodothyronine, also know as t4 and t3 and calcitonin. The release of these hormones stimulate the energy metabolism of all cell and inhibits the breakdown of bone; causing a decrease in blood calcium concentraion.

What adrenal glands are actually two separate endocrine glands?

adrenal cortex and the Adrenal Medulla

Which gland of the edocrine system is located near the brain?

There are two located within the brain:The pituitary gland is located near the base of the brainThe pineal gland is located within the diencephalon (of the brain)

The adrenals and pituitary are examples of endocrine glands?

Yes, an adrenal gland is an endocrine gland. There are two adrenal glands: one sits above each kidney.

What two organ most directly regulates the body system?

Negative feedback mechanism is used by two body systems: the nervous system and the endocrine system. The nervous system is the quick one and uses an intricate circuitry of neurons and your brain to respond to changes. The endocrine system is the slow one and is made up of endocrine glands that secrete hormones to counter changes.

What are the endocrine glands located on top of kidneys?
