A tangential velocity vector relative to the orbit itself, and acceleration towards the center of the planet due to gravity.
Velocity and gravity (movement around the Earth and the gravity of the Earth pulling on it).
The two principal motions of Earth are rotation and revolution. Rotation refers to the spinning of Earth on its axis, which causes day and night. Revolution refers to Earth's orbit around the sun, which takes approximately 365.25 days to complete.
The three major motions that the Earth undergos in space are Revolution(Orbit), Rotation, and Precession
The two main motions of the Earth are rotation and revolution. Rotation refers to the Earth spinning on its axis, causing day and night, while revolution is the Earth's annual orbit around the Sun, creating the change in seasons.
Just firing the engines once would result in a highly eccentric orbit. (an oval or ellipse) If you know the definition of an ellipse the earth is one of the foci. When the satallite is nearest the earth it is moving fastest. once the engines are fired once the satallite will rise in altitude on one side of the ellipse and fall back to the starting point on the other side. At it's highest point the satallite will be moving very slowly and will recover it's speed each time it falls closer to the earth again. You can fire the engine at the apogee (peak) of the orbit to raise the speed so that the satallite will not fall back to the perigee (lowest point). The energy used to speed up the satallite is conserved because there is a huge amount of potential energy stored by increasing the altitude of the satallite. So yes, the satallite slows down but the overall energy of the system increases. In reality things don't fall in parabolas, they follow ellipses that are interrupted by the imminent ground. Parabola's work pretty well in human scale though because earth is so huge that it seems nearly flat.
The mutual forces of gravity between the Earth and sun maintain the Earth's closed orbit. So that's "Gravity" for number-1, that's all there is, and that's all it takes. There is no number-2.
The motion of the planets are elliptical motions
Moon moves around the planet Earth in an orbit and rotates on its own axis. It takes moon around 28 days to move around the planet Earth. Normally, the moon takes around 27 days to rotate on its axis.
1.Revolution (the earth and moon revolve around their common centre of mass) 2.Rotation. (the moon rotates around its own axis 3. The moon orbits the sun in company with the earth.
The two major motions of Earth as it travels through space are rotation, which is its spinning on its axis causing day and night, and revolution, which is its orbit around the Sun causing the changing of seasons.
This is called its orbit. Strictly, the moon and the earth both orbit their common centre of mass. The path of the moon around Earth is elliptical orbit. It takes about 29 days to complete one orbit of earth by moon.
