as i resently found out there are many types of scanners. They are the flatbed, photo, sheetfeed, portable, slide, drum, hand, single sheet scanners.

What are the parts of an image scanner?

There are many different types of image scanners. However, several of them have the same several components that include various ports, CIS for better sharpness and quality, CCD for better saturation and color, and an A/D convertor for quicker digital scanning.

How does a scanner capture a image?

There are a few different types of image scanners, most modern ones use a charge-coupled device (CCD) or a contact image sensor(CIS) as the image sensor. In a flatbed scanner this sensor is mounted on an aparatus which moves the sensor across the page to scan the entire image. In a hand-held scanner the sensor is mounted in a drum which the user rolls across the page to scan the image.

What is the purpose of a vulnerability scanner?

A network vulnerability scanner is a program written to find vulnerabilities in other programs run on either a computer or the network. There are different types of vulnerability scanners based on what the scanner is scanning.

What are the 3 types of microscopes you studied?

Compound, Scanning Probe, and Scanning Electron.

Why does the scanner need to be calibrated?

If you have trouble getting scans that look right, the problem may not be with your scanning technique. Calibrating your scanner can go a long way toward insuring that what you scan and what you see on-screen and what you print are all the same. Scanner calibration goes along with monitor and printer calibration to help get the best color match possible from three very different devices. Color correction can be done within Adobe Photoshop, Corel Photo-Paint, or your other image editor of choice. However, if you find yourself having to make the same types of corrections over and over - scans that are consistently too dark or have a reddish cast to them, for example - calibrating your scanner can save much image editing time.

What are the Types of a television camera tube?

There are several types of television camera tube (also known as pickup tubes). There is the image dissector, the iconoscope, the Super-Emitron image iconoscope, the Orthicon and CPS Emitron, the image orthicon, and Vidicon. There are also currently several new technologies being developed making several new types of pickup tubes

What Microscope that gives 3-D image?

There are at least two types of microscope that can give 3D images. Confocal microscopes that use lasers to illuminate the object and scanning electron microcopes (SEM) that use an electron beam. A SEM can give better magnification than confocal but confocal can image live moving subjects. In SEM the object of intrest must be coated with gold so only dead things can be imaged.

How does a fingerprint sensor work?

A fingerprint scanner system has two basic jobs -- it needs to get an image of your finger, and it needs to determine whether the pattern of ridges and valleys in this image matches the pattern of ridges and valleys in pre-scanned images. There are a number of different ways to get an image of somebody's finger. The most common methods today are optical scanning and capacitance scanning. Both types come up with the same sort of image, but they go about it in completely different ways. The heart of an optical scanner is a charge coupled device (CCD), the same light sensor system used in digital cameras and camcorders. A CCD is simply an array of light-sensitive diodes called photosites, which generate an electrical signal in response to light photons. Each photosite records a pixel, a tiny dot representing the light that hit that spot. Collectively, the light and dark pixels form an image of the scanned scene (a finger, for example). Typically, an analog-to-digital converter in the scanner system processes the analog electrical signal to generate a digital representation of this image. The scanning process starts when you place your finger on a glass plate, and a CCD camera takes a picture. The scanner has its own light source, typically an array of light-emitting diodes, to illuminate the ridges of the finger. The CCD system actually generates an inverted image of the finger, with darker areas representing more reflected light (the ridges of the finger) and lighter areas representing less reflected light (the valleys between the ridges). Before comparing the print to stored data, the scanner processor makes sure the CCD has captured a clear image. It checks the average pixel darkness, or the overall values in a small sample, and rejects the scan if the overall image is too dark or too light. If the image is rejected, the scanner adjusts the exposure time to let in more or less light, and then tries the scan again. If the darkness level is adequate, the scanner system goes on to check the image definition (how sharp the fingerprint scan is). The processor looks at several straight lines moving horizontally and vertically across the image. If the fingerprint image has good definition, a line running perpendicular to the ridges will be made up of alternating sections of very dark pixels and very light pixels. If the processor finds that the image is crisp and properly exposed, it proceeds to comparing the captured fingerprint with fingerprints on file.
