The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien.
There is no such language since Elves don't really exist, but Tolkien in his books used runes as elvish. You can find books on runes and rune stones.
I can find none that start with the letter P.
Tolkien's publishers were happy to see that the Lord of the Rings was finished, but they didn't want to publish The Silmarillion, which Tolkien was eager to see in print. Unhappy with his publishing house, he decided to find a new one. Collins Publishing, a distinguished British firm, showed quick interest. The only problem was that The Lord of the Rings was almost half a million words, and paper expenses were soaring. Collins Publishings wanted Tolkien to make the story shorter. Tolkien felt it had already been cut as much as possible. Tolkien also wanted to do some work on The Silmarillion and he thought it would end up to be half a million words anyways. Because of paper costs, Collins Publishing backed away from the deal. He took his works back to his old publisher, who was glad to have him back.
There are no subjects that are intrinsically easy or difficult. What you find difficult someone else might find easy and conversely. It depends on your aptitudes, interests and abilities.
In the book "The Hobbit" by Tolkien, Bilbo doesn't find the dwarfs, the dwarfs find him! (With the help of the wizard) It is a wonderful book and I strongly recommend reading it!
Legally all pictures are still under copyright. They have not been released to the public domain. But if you go to Google Images and search JRR Tolkien you will find some of the pictures as advertisements for books and some web sites that have acquired permission to use them or claim 'fair use'.
It is going to be filmed at the same time as another Tolkien based movie (I can't find what it is, perhaps something from the Tolkien Reader?) and The Hobbit is going to be released in 2011. Based on that, I would suspect filming is beginning very soon.
He probably read the Norse Mythology because Gandalf was a Dwarf's name in the Norse Mythology. There are many other names J.R.R. Tolkien took for his story like Elrond; Saruman; Mordor; Iluvatar; Aragorn and many more.
