how transmission oil capacity
what kind of hydraulic oil should be used for a massey furguson 245
15W-40
Back when that tractor was made, they probably said to use an SAE 10 or similar hydraulic oil. Now days, the Universal Hydraulic Oils that are available meet and exceed the specs on those older type oils. You should be able to get Universal Hydraulic Oil from about any oil distributor or farm supply store.
Universal Trans / Hydraulic Fluid (Some Wal Mart Locations, Any Tractor Supply, etc)
right at a gallon
any hydraulic transmission oil such as Hy-tran Case IH or Hy-Gard John Deere
Go to your local parts store or fuel jobber and get a can of Tractor Fluid or your dealer and get OEM fluid. About 50 bucks a can but a lot cheaper than a hydraulic pump failure. Good Luck!
The main thing that happens when there is water in diesel fuel is that it will burn poorly or maybe not even at all. It will also sink to the bottom of the fuel tank.
Either sae 30 or 15w40
Hydraulic fluid is hydraulic oil.... as for the type you use, depends on your system. I used to own two tractor-trailer end dumps, and I actually used ATF rather than hydraulic oil. Check with the OEM for your hydraulic system before you do this, though.
The hydraulic reservoir on the case 730 should be in about the same area as the case 630......on the right side of the tractor at the rear of the engine and on what would be the bell housing is a large cap screw type plug. There should be a dipstick not too far from it....you add hydraulic oil there, if it is a case-o-matic. If it is a standard transmission, then the dipstick and the plug should be on the rear of the tractor around where the seat bolts on.
