Best Answer

Typically a fully jacketed bullet, since it can be driven at higher speeds than unjacketed lead bullets. They are usually spitzer, or pointed bullets- they remain accurate to greater distances.

What is the average speed of a sniper?

The average human can run about 10-15 MPH. A military sniper has been through grueling physical training, so a sniper can probably run much faster than that. If you were referring to a sniper's fired rifle round, this depends on the type of weapon and cartridge used in that weapon. As an average, medium to large caliber bullets travel at over 2000 feet per second. The 7.62 round is popular with snipers, it travels at 2800 fps. The .338 Laupa (very long range) travels up to 3300 fps. The .50 BMG (very long range, high power) travels about 3000 fps. Cartridges can be loaded differently for specific uses, so the velocity of a particular caliber will vary heavily.

How does one reload bullets?

ACTUALLY, you reload cartridges, not bullets. The fired cartridge case is cleaned, and the old primer removed with a punch type tool. A new primer is pressed into place, the case pushed through a sizing die that squeezes it back to original size (they expand a little when fired). A measured charge of gunpowder is poured into the case, and a bullet is pressed into the neck of the case. The case may be crimped against the bullet to hold it in place.
