An EMT is a very high stress, high pressure job. Some characteristics that a person should obtain before committing to this profession would be excellent communications skills, feeling comfortable in emergencies, hard worker, never second guessing yourself, strong personality, want to help others, being able to focus hard on the task at hand. I am an nineteen year old female who has been debating this as a career for the past year and i have done tons of research on what it will take out of a person and what type of person you need to be to become a successful EMT.
You need you EMT certificate, then your CPR certificate, then you will need your EMT-B certificate and then you can chose to up it to intermediate and then you can go for your EMT exam and hopefully pass.
