What is the important to be maintained across the terminals of a battery?

Better taking care not to have any direct contact between them which means a short circuit. This would spoil the battery immediately

What is the device to break a circuit?

Switch (mechanical or electrical), breaker or fuse.a switch

What does reversing the direction of the electron flow in the battery do?

The voltage measured across every component in the circuit would take on the opposite polarity from what it was originally. If there are any diodes in the circuit, then current might stop flowing in some branches where it formerly existed, or start flowing in branches where there was no current before.

How does connecting an electric device to a battery produce an current in the device?

If we connect a battery to a device and complete a circuit, current will flow in that circuit and through the device. A battery (in good condition) is an electrical storage device. Most of the ones we are familiar with are chemical cells. There are chemicals inside that would like to react, but cannot unless there is an external circuit through which electrons can move to get from one electrode in the battery to the other. The potential chemical energy in a battery can be converted into electrical energy by completing that circuit. There is a force called voltagethat arises between the electrodes of the battery. And this voltage (electromotive force, or EMF) is the way that the chemical potential energy expresses itself. Because the battery can convert chemical potential energy into electricity owing to that EMF between the electrodes, connecting a circuit across the battery will allow current to flow as the chemical reactions in the battery proceed. A very rough analogy can be drawn by looking at gravitational potential energy. If a bowling ball is sitting on the floor and it is lifted onto a table, its gravitational potential energy has been increased. This is distantly similar to the chemical reactions that want to occur in the battery; they are potential energy, too. If the bowling ball rolls off the edge of the table, the potential energy is converted into kinetic energy by gravity. When we hook up an external circuit to the battery, the chemical potential energy (expressed as voltage) drives electrical current through that circuit and the device in it. The circuit here is composed of conductors and the device. Electrons in the conductors are hanging around in the conduction band, and if a voltage is applied, those electrons will begin moving in response. The device must be conductive to some extent, and it, too, will have this electron current flowing through it. The battery has been connected to a circuit and drives current through that circuit. The chemical potential energy in the battery is converted into electrical energy in the circuit and the device connected to it.

What would happenif you put an 8 amp circuit-breaker in a power circuit?

The circuit would be protected up to 8 amps before the breaker would trip. Any more that 8 amps and the circuit would open and shut the circuit off.

What circuit would be inside a torch?

you have to collect a battery(cell), battery case, 4 wires, and as many bulbs as you ewould like. now link them together. alexia age 12A very good answer Alexia. Here's how I would answer it.Connect, in series, a cell or battery, a bulb with a voltage rating which corresponds to the cell/battery voltage, and, optionally, a switch.

Are battery operated electronic pencil sharpeners cheaper?

Yes, battery operated sharpeners are cheaper when you buy them. But keep in mind that the batteries cost money too and eventually you would have been off cheaper with a non-battery operated one.

What would happen if a battery is removed from a circuit?

It wil be on

What are the circuit effects due to a short circuit or open circuit?

It would depend on the circuit diagram. In some cases, the circuit would be incomplete (simplest case is a battery with a wire attached to just one terminal).Parallel branches that have a connection to the battery without going through other branches are independent of each other. Say you have two parallel branches and a battery. If you short circuit one of the branches, the other branch will not be affected but the battery will be (current through the battery would decrease because taking out a parallel branch increases resistance). In short, it would depend on the circuit diagram. Note that for a nanosecond, there would be current in an open circuit, but after this brief time there would be no current flow in the segment of the circuit that has been shorted.

What happens when you disconnect the wire from the battery?

Disconnecting a wire from a battery would break the circuit. If the battery was powering a bulb, the lamp would go out.

When you add a second battery to a series circuit what happens?

Adding a seound battery to a series circuit will increase the voltage, and require less current to keep the lights (if there are any on) as bright. Say you have a 6v battery, then you add another 6v battery. the voltage of the circuit would be 12v

Why is there not a battery operated hair dryer on the market women of color truly need this invention?

The battery would be too heavy to lift

What would the current flow be if a short circuit is put across the battery's terminals?

That will depend on the internal resistance of the battery. I = E / R Where I is the current, E is the open circuit battery voltage, and R is the internal resistance of the battery.

How would the circuit inside a flashlight work?

Flashlight by light, battery, circuit, a hood and a reflective cup, circuit storehouse, switch, etc, the basic principle is the current from the battery, and then to the circuit, after adjusting circuit voltage and current, and then output to the light source for lighting.

What would be a basic electical circuit?

a battery and a resistor connected together.

What would happen if you connected the ends of a battery in a series circuit with wire?

You would short out the battery. If it was a car battery capable of 300 amps and the wire was big enough, the battery could explode.
