Adipose tissue is formed of closely packed adipocytes (fat-cells).
It is located under skin (as a subcutaneous layer), around kidneys and eyeballs and breasts. There is a large thick layer over the lower abdomen that protects the intestines. Adipose tissue stores energy, insulates and protects.
