Well it's kinda easy 'cos there are hardly any rocks that are purple other than amethyst. Firstly amethyst is violet, secondly it's usually transparent and sometimes has white parts, and lastly amethyst occurs in a hexagonal prism naturally. Oh, and you wouldn't find a polished amethyst crystal on the ground, trust me.
