A Windows Movie Maker project file is in .MSWMMformat.
Most likely because that file type is not supported in Windows Movie Maker
Im not sure if its different on any other versions of windows, but on windows 7 you save the movie for the computer. Then windows dvd maker recognises the file type. You are then able to add a menu to the movie. Hope this helps :) ♥
You can't convert a MSWMM (Microsoft Windows Movie Maker) file. The only way to convert it to a standard viewing format is by Publishing or Finishing the movie in the program. A MSWMM file can only be viewed, edited in the Windows Movie Maker program. Publishing or Finishing it is the process that converts it into a .wmv file, which can then be converted to whatever file type you desire.
Windows Movie Maker is a video editing application.
You can't choose the format type in Windows Movie Maker. Just publish or finish the video first. Then convert the .wmv file to whatever format you like with a video converter.
It sounds as though the video file you are trying to use in Windows Movie Maker is not compatible with the program. If a video imported into Windows Movie Maker is dropped into the Audio/Music track, then the file is incompatible. You will have to convert the video to one of the following file name extensions (formats):.asf, .avi, dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, .wmv
Windows movie maker can only use certain formats (file types) such as .wmv or .avi
Right click on the file and click on rename and then rename it to what ever you want and then if you want a new file extension pit a . And then type in the file extension
You can do this on Windows Movie Maker. Go to Google and type 'Windows Movie Maker download' to get it. It is free, but you need a video camera.
You can't reformat media (of any type) in Windows Movie Maker. There is no optimizing feature for doing that.
If Windows Movie Maker does not show your video in the Preview pane, then it is not in the correct format for the program. Sometimes the audio works, but the video doesn't. That means the file is partially compatible -- at least the audio portion is. Check to see what file name extension (format) the video is in. Right-click the file and choose Properties from the drop-down menu. Note the file type. If it is not one compatible with Windows Movie Maker, then it will not show in the Preview pane.
You need to export it as a .mov file or another type of video file that is compatible with your computer. This is a really simple process and should only take 30 seconds to export.
