Surprisingly for a people that lived on the borders of the Nile river, research on mummies' intestines has shown that Egyptians were not great fish eaters. Although Hollywood movies have suggested differently, the regular eating habits of the rich and powerful were not much different from those of the common people, although the quality of the food very probably was better.
