You will see tons of granite in Yosemite National Park and while on Half Dome. The granite is actually has quite a good grip, as long as there is no gravel and the rock is not wet. Much of the rock on Half Dome has been eroded, so is actually fairly smooth while still being a bit rough because of the uneven weathering of the surface.
I've went there myself and i had seen bears, deers, all type of birds, and also squirrels. the squirrels there are kind and not afriad of humans. yosemite is a place you would want to be at if you love nature.
Aside from the types of rock found in either formation, the type of erosion that occurred is different. Yosemite was carved by glaciers while the Grand Canyon was carved by the Colorado River.
