Brontosaurus was named when fossil bones from 2 types of saraupod dinosaurs became mixed up. One was Apatosaurus and the other was Camarasaurus. It is generally assumed that most species of "Brontosaurus" found were in fact Apatosaurus.
1. Brachiosaurus had longer forelimbs than hind legs. Camarasaurus had slightly longer hind limbs than forelimbs.2. Like most sauropods, Camarasaurus had a horizontal neck. Brachiosaurus, on the other hand, had a verticle neck.3. Camarasaurus supremus, the largest species of Camarasaurus, was 75 ft long and weighed about 50 tons. The largest Brachiosaurid was Sauroposeidon proteles, and it was 56 ft tall, 112 ft long, and weighed 55-66 tons.4. Camarasaurus were the most common dinosaurs found in western North America that date to the late Jurassic.
