Most fossils are found in sedimentary rock. This is because sediments (soil, sand, etc) pile on top of bones and then solidify into rock, over time, preserving fossils. Because these generally remain buried very deep, it does make it easier to find fossils in areas where the ground has been pushed upward by the formation of mountain ranges. Thus, sedimentary rock is nearly always the material fossils are found in, and mountains make it a little easier to find fossils.
One of the earliest known artifacts in the world are some stone tools left by early human. The ranged from hammer to spears.one stone tools was found in the oegon cave and is said to be over 9000 years old!
Coal fossils formation begin about 60 million to 290 million years ago (before human existence) therefore no human fossils are found in coal.
Almost all monotreme fossils have been found in Australia. An exception is the fossil of a platypus-like creature named Monotrematus sudamericanum found in Argentina, within a Patagonian rock formation.
Velociraptor fossils have been found in the Djadochta Formation in Mongolia and the Bayan Mandahu Formation in north-central China. Velociraptor was first discovered in 1923 by Peter Kaisen while he was on an expedition with the American Museum of Natural History.
All fossils are found only in sedimentary rock. The heat and/or pressure involved in the formation of igneous or metamorphic rock would destroy the fossil.
Artifacts and fossils teach us about the past by giving us a perspective about ancient cultures. Scientists studying artifacts and fossils do so to give the world a better understanding of cultures. The more artifacts and fossils discovered, the more lost puzzle pieces are found
No velociraptor fossils have been found in the U.S. They have only been found in Mongolia and China. However, relatives of velociraptor, such as Utahraptor have been found in the U.S.
All known Apatosaurus fossils have been found in the Morrison Formation of the western USA. Fossils are known from Colorado, Wyoming, Oklahoma, and Utah.

Richard Markgraf discovered a partial skeleton of Spinosaurus at the Bahariya Formation in Egypt in 1912. Since then, Spinosaurus fossils have been found not only in Egypt but also in Morocco.
Allosaurus fossils have been found in the Morrison Formation of western North America, the Lourinhã Formation of Portugal, and the Tendaguru Formation of Tanzania. Their fossils date to between 155 and 150 million years ago.
Ankylosaurus fossils have been found in the Hell Creek Formation of Montana and the Lance Formation of Wyoming. They have also been found in the Scollard Formation of Alberta, in Canada.

Ankylosaurus fossils have been found in the Hell Creek Formation of Montana, the Lance Formation of Wyoming, and the Scollard Formation of Alberta, Canada. Where they are most common specifically I don't know.

In Alberta, Ankylosaurus fossils have been found in the Scollard Formation. The Scollard Formation is located about halfway between the cities of Edmonton and Calgary. The Scollard Formation also holds fossils of other dinosaurs, such as T-rex, Triceratops, and Pachycephalosaurus.
