Basaltic flows much faster than rhyolite. Rhyolite is higher viscosity. Find a video of a basaltic lava flow like Hawaii, it flows like water when it's hot. Rhyolite eruptions usually act more like toothpaste if they're slow, or an explosion if fast.

Basaltic lava flows faster because it is less viscous than rhyolitic lava. Rhyolitic lava is the most viscous. In volcanoes that erupt today, only carbonate lava is less viscous than basaltic lava.

Basaltic lava will flow more quickly as it has a much lower viscosity. Rhyolitic lava is so viscous that ir barely flows at all and will often forma lava dome rather than a lava flow. More often than that it will erupt explosively.

Basaltic lava flows faster. Baslatic lava has a lower silica content and a higher temperature than rhyolitic lava, making it much lass viscous.

Both rhyolitic and basaltic lava flows have been found in the Yellowstone Caldera. There are alro large deposits of rhyolitic tuff.

What kind of magma does Yellowstone have?

The magma is primarily granitic/rhyolitic, but there are occasional basaltic lava flows.

What type of lava flow does Yellowstone volcano have?

Yellowstone has produced both basaltic and rhyolitic lava flows. It is better known for its ecplosive eruptions, which produce large ash clouds and pyroclastic flows rather than lava flows.

Is lava butte basaltic or granitic lava flow?

A lava butte is generally basaltic lava. Granitic lava flows (called rhyolitic when they form at the surface) are rare and do not cover much ground.

Basaltic lava flows much faster than ryholitic lava.

How many types of lava flow?

2. Thick or runny lava. Thick flows slowly, runny flows faster.

How do rhyolitic magma or lava and basaltic lava differ?

rhyolitic mama is associated with explosive volcanism and is ejected (blown out of) a volcano rapidly. Basaltic lavas are released during effusive volcanism that is not explosive, such as hawaii where the lave "flows" into the ocean slowly. Basaltic lavas have a lower silica content as well.

Does Lava flow faster from a violent volcano?

A violent volcanic eruption will produce pyroclastic flows, which are somewhat like avalanches of hot ash and rock, rather than lava flows. Pyroclastic flows are faster than any lava flow. When they erupt effusively, though, the lava is so viscous that it flows very slowly.

Between mafic lava and felsic lava which flowsfaster?

Mafic lava is hotter than felsic lava and therefore flows faster.
