Part rock, part nu-metal (non-metal). Rock, yes, of the hardcore alternative variety. Screamy in some parts, but their earlier album has a lot more of a melodic feel, interestingly enough. The lead singer (M. Shadows) had something happen to his vocal chords after one of their concerts in the time of their first album, giving him a really raspy sound. It's sort of nasally. More screaming, then, in subsequent albums; when he does croon a Ballad, he sounds sort of strange.

∙ 13y agoAvenged Sevenfold was a Metalcore band during the beginning stages of their band, but after they became bigger and more popular their style has progressed into a more Hard Rock/ Metal band. Every album has its' own style and sound and they are very proud of this, but consistently stay in this general genre.
