I would use 10w30 and for high mileage 10w40 would work best
Take it to the local Toyota dealer and say, "hey, remove the grill".
You can buy a Haynes repair manual at just about any parts store. It may take alot of flipping pages back and forth, but it works. That is how I fixed my 87 pickup.
It's on the front of the motor, kinda towards the bottom of the block. You have to take the timing belt cover off to replace the water pump.

Take out the bolts and replace it. You may need to raise the motor to get enough clearence, may have to drop it down a bit and remove the pickup tube to get it out.
There are screws on the inside. You need to unscrew the screws.

Yes you just have to take the plug out of the head to put in the distributor.
