Most people taken into concentration camps were Jewish people. Anyone who hid a Jewish person or who had any contact with a Jewish person was taken to a concentration camp. Sometimes, they would have people who did not obey the military commands.
Mostly Jews were sentenced to Auschwitz. This was because Auschwitz was a massive concentration camp or to say extermination camp where over 1 million Jews died alone here. Other people were sentenced to hear like POW and other minorities but Auschwitz is known for the mass killing of Jews.
