There is no roaming with a straight talk phone. It seems they have a lot of problems with this type of phone. It is a prepaid pay-as-you go phone that requires no long term contracts, no credit checks and no activation fees.

There are phones that can be answered via voice, but others require activation of a switch (either remote or in-dwelling) before dialing out. VAD would allow a high level quadriplegic (someone who can only move their head due to a spinal cord or brain injury, but can use their voice) to dial out on a phone for emergency access. Evidently, there is a model of Blackberry that has the capacity to dial out via a voice command, but I have not seen or used it personally.
