You have it backwards. The M14 rifle shoots the 7.62 NATO cartridge.

Not really. Both weapons may be similar in animations, but they have lots of differences. - The M14 is an assault rifle, while the M21 is a sniper rifle. - The M14 has a 20 round magazine, while the M21 has a 10 round magazine. - The M14 deals 50-40 damage, whild the M21 deals 70 damage. - The empty reload time of the M14 at 3.06s is slightly faster than the M21's, at 3.1s. - The M21 has a lot less recoil than the M14.
the effective range on any firearm is going to be limited to your ammo, with the m14 its a 30 cal, best way to get an answer is check a current ballistics chart for that round
The Mausers rifles, such as the Kar98K, fire this round.
it only holds one magazine if you are talking about bullets it holds 20
No, the M14 and Ruger Mini-14 are completely different firearms. The Mini-14 was designed for the civilian market as a .223 caliber rifle based on the looks of the M14, which fires the larger 7.62x51mm round and has fully automatic capabilities. They do both however have a gas-operated rotating bolt action.

Ammunition - USGI, Chinese and Taiwanese M14 type rifles are chambered for the 7.62x51 mm NATO cartridge (1.6350" GO, 1.6405" NO GO, 1.6455" FIELD REJECT). U. S. commercial M14 type rifles are chambered for .308 Winchester for the most part. However, many U. S. commercial M14 type rifles have USGI or Chinese M14 barrels threaded on their receivers. The commercial manufacturers head space their rifles to SAAMI specifications (1.630" GO, 1.634" NO GO, 1.638" FIELD REJECT). A U. S. commercial made M14 type rifle can use either .308 Winchester or 7.62x51mm NATO ammunition. This is because the headspace limits for .308 Winchester are smaller than for the 7.62x51mm cartridge as noted above. http://www.alpharubicon.com/leo/m14typeriflesd.htm
