Sunspots are believed to be the sites where solar flares are generated. Sunspots are known to be "storms" on the sun's surface, but they are not yet fully understood.add The surface of our Sun is about 5800 deg C and above, and naturally most of the material is highly ionized. Thus large electrical currents may be generated, and these in turn cause the magnetic field loops seen as solar activity. Hysteresis loops tell about the magnetic properties of a material.
