Full armour consists of the following:

Head: the helmet there were many different designs of helmet, each with different names and shapes. Some of the commonest were:

the Nasal (a conical helmet with a nose guard hanging down over the brim of the helm, worn by early knights in the Norman era),

the Bascinet (a 14th century helmet type which protected the sides of the neck)

the Sallet (a 15th C type which have good protection to the neck, and face, with a visor)

Neck and throat: this was protected by one of two peices: a Bevor, which cupped the chin, or a Gorget, which wrapped around the entire neck, sitting on the shoulders.

Arms: the shoulders were protected by one of two peices. a set of sliding segments called Spaulders, or a larger more rigid protection called Pauldrons.

Below the shoulder, the upper arm was protected by the Rerebrace.

the elbow was cupped by the Couter

the forearm was protected by the Vanbrace.

the hands were then enclosed in Gauntlets.

Body: This was normally protected by large peices of steel, the breastplate and backplate for chestt and back respectively. In some types of armour, the body was protected by many smaller plates, which were called the Coat of plates, or Brigandine, instead.

Below the breastplate, the lower waist and groin was protected by a set of metal strips, called the Fauld, onto which large plates called tassets, that covered the top of the legs were hung.

Legs were covered by Cuisses, which covered the upper leg, the Poleyn, which covers the knee, and the Greave, which covers the shins.

Feet are protected by the Sabatons.

Finally, if you were a knight, the entire harness of armour comes with a servant or squire to do all the dirty polishing and maintainance work...

Generally they wore whatever armour and other protection they could afford. Wealthy knights usually wore plate armour (when and where it was available) most knights favoured chain mail. Usually armour covered the torso and was combined with a helmet; though some who could afford to added leg and arm armour as well. Shields wer also widely used.

Medieval knights wore many different types of armor. Generally they consisted of chain mail hauberks with breast plates strapped over top of them, they would wear chain coifs on their heads as well as plate helmets. Most wore gauntlets, greaves, and plate boots. This armor frequently had gaps in the plate armor both for mobility and weight reduction around each joint.

Mounted knights wore what is referred to as full-plate armor, which consisted of chain mail and plate armor which covered the entirety of their body including shoulders, upper and lower arms, upper and lower legs, head, hands, waist, chest, and thighs.

In the early medieval period l "chain mail" was very common armor. This was armor made from chain links.

Than around 1300+ "Partial Plate" or "Coat of Plates" which is a basiclly chai mail armor reinforced with plate pieces.

Than full plate armor, which surely was already on battlefields in 1400s

Also knight always wore a gamberson under armor to soften hits. The gambeson was used with all the styles of armor.

Knights sometimes decorated their armor with paint or cloth with heraldic devices. In other times, they polished the armor so it would gleam in the sun.

Why does Medieval Knights wear amror?

A medieval knight wore armour to protect them in battle so they didn't get hurt, though chain mail can be pierced so the came up with armour plating to protect the knight further. Thought with all these men in the same looking armour it was hard to tell friend from foe so the began to engrave the armour with the knights specific heraldry shield so it was easier in battle to tell who to save and who to kill.
