That depends on what you need them for. For just general printing, you should stick with laser printers. For color printing, go with some solid ink printers. Are you looking for different types of printers or different brands of printers? If you're looking for brands, I'd go with HP. They make great printers that are very affordable. This is a tuff one! Depending on your volume of prints, type of prints, quality of prints and maybe as many as a dozen other criteria it varies. HP, brother, Epson, Lexmark, Canon all make excellent products for Inkjet printing. Samsung make great small volume mono & color printers and now have entered the 55 ppm higher duty cycle market. HP too for lasers and Canon. Canon is a excellent choice for color laser. You really need someone who can analize and recomend several options for your enviroment.
inkjets
Dot-matrix printers are often used in offices that use multi-page listing paper. Otherwise, most printing in the home and office is either done by inkjets (colour printing) or lasers (mono and colour printing), using A4 or A3 sized pre-cut paper. Special printers are commonly used in graphic design offices where very large coloured prints are needed.
No human fingerprint is the same.
It depends on several things- brand, model of printer, types of inks used, papers used, size printed, etc. I can say from experience that previous canon and hp photo printers I have had range from $.80-$1.20 per 8x10 at the printers best print quality. For just a few prints here and there, photo printers are great- for larger jobs, sending it to a printer is much cheaper
