A supercluster is a collection of clusters. There is no defined amount of clusters.
A cluster could have up to 10 trillion stars, so a supercluster could contain around a quadtrillion stars.
Our local group OF GALAXIES contains about 40 named galaxies and clusters. The Milky Way and Andromeda are by far the largest and with their combined populations of probably over 300 billion stars completely dominate the group.
So somewhere in excess of 300,000,000,000 stars are in our local group of galaxies.
The two main types of star clusters are:
Other less known are:
Tens of thousands, millions, tens of millions; it depends on the size of the cluster.
Please keep in mind that we cannot see many of the low-mass red dwarf or then even smaller brown dwarf stars. They don't put out enough light for us to see them from that far away. NASA scientists recently (spring of 2011) estimated that there may be four or five times as many stars in the Milky Way as we have previously believed. There's no reason why this shouldn't be true of clusters as well.
Way too many to count. A rough guess at over a trillion stars.
See related link for a list of galaxies in our local cluster
There are only two types of star clusters.
The two main types of star clusters are:
The Local Group is a group of over 54 galaxies. Each has billions and billions of stars. All together, there is about 1.5 trillion stars in the local group.
Generally older stars are in globular clusters, while younger stars are in open clusters.
A supercluster can vary between several hundred light years to a billion light years across.
They are the largest structures in the Universe.
Earth is in milkyway galaxy which is part of Virgo cluster and Virgo cluster is located in Virgo supercluster. Cluster = A group of galaxies. Supercluster = group of clusters.
If this was a true/false question, the answer is "False". The Milky Way alone contains over 200 billion stars and the Andromeda Galaxy has up to 1 trillion.
That sounds like a galaxy. It could also be a galaxy cluster or a supercluster.
A group of stars, dust and gases held together by gravity IS CALLED GALAXY
Virgo Supercluster
A galactic supercluster.
The Virgo Supercluster, often just called the Local Supercluster
The Local group for the clusterThe Virgo Super Clusters for the Supercluster
Earth is in milkyway galaxy which is part of Virgo cluster and Virgo cluster is located in Virgo supercluster. Cluster = A group of galaxies. Supercluster = group of clusters.
A supercluster is a group of galaxy clusters, each of which in turn is a group of galaxies.
If this was a true/false question, the answer is "False". The Milky Way alone contains over 200 billion stars and the Andromeda Galaxy has up to 1 trillion.
That sounds like a galaxy. It could also be a galaxy cluster or a supercluster.
Our local cluster is known as - well "The Local Cluster", Not very imaginative I know. It is part of the the Virgo Supercluster or Local Supercluster.
A group of stars, dust and gases held together by gravity IS CALLED GALAXY
hello
A supercluster.
The Virgo Supercluster (in which the Milky Way is located) is about 200 million light years across.
