Complicated searches can be performed by the Finder.
Click on the Finder icon in the Dock. The default window will open. In Mountain Lion, the default is "All my Files." This can be set in Finder Prefs.
Press Command F
The window will now have some info at the top: "This Mac" and the Current or Default Directory. It defaults to the "This Mac" and "All My Files", but you can limit searches to your current directory by starting the search in the needed window.
The next line contains some drop down menus with items like Name, Kind, Size, Last Opened, among others. Select the aspect you want.
To add more parameters to the search, click the + sign on the right side of the limiter bar. Another bar will open and you can add another factor.
Searches can be saved and stored in the left Finder Pane.
For example you could find all the gif images that were created today that were smaller than 4K.
Another method is "Spotlight."
In the upper corner of the screen is a magnifying glass. Click it and type the name of the item you want. If that can not find what you want, you select "Show in Finder" and continue as before.
There are numerous options for moving files between computers such as: saving them directly to the other computer over a network, by attaching them to an email, by saving them to a USB/Flash Drive or burning onto a CD. Providing the file conforms to a standard format then there should be no problem reading files from Microsoft software on an Apple computer. Microsoft produces a range of software for Apple's Mac computers, such as Word and Excel, but Apple's own Text Edit and Pages software can handle most Word files.
The files which store the copy of your original data are called backup files. In windows backup files are created by NTbackup utility and windows backup and restore utilities. These backup files have .bkf file extension.

In computing "Diff" refers to a utility that displays the difference between two files. It is usually used to show the differences between a newer version of a file and an older version. The utility outputs the changes made to each text file per line.
